The Montclair Public School District was honored with three communications awards by the New Jersey Public Relations Society of America (NJSPRA).
In the website category, Montclair received the highest honors, the Gold Award. The Montclair Public Schools website features daily announcements for the district and weekly in-depth stories, as well as information for parents, staff and the community.
The community newsletter, which received a Silver Award, is produced twice a year and is sent to Montclair residents as well as area businesses and community partners. Three issues were submitted for consideration: the fall 2009 full color printed edition; a June 2009 end-of-year black and white issue and the March 2010 issue, the first electronic version.
Receiving a Bronze Award was the Superintendent’s Bulletin, a monthly, internal newsletter sent to faculty and staff. The bulletin is designed to keep staff apprised of district happenings as well as recognizing staff and students for their many accomplishments. Sent via e-mail in PDF format, the bulletin is a means of informing the 11 schools in the district about each other.
The panel judging the entries included Ellen Lazer, long-time NJSPRA member and public relations website specialist.
The NJPRSA’s primary objectives are to advance the standards of the public relations profession and to provide members with professional development opportunities through continuing education programs, information exchange forums and research projects conducted on the national and local levels.
