Spanish language students at Montclair High School distinguished themselves this year at the annual National Spanish Exam sponsored by the American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese.
In 2006, Montclair High School students competed with more than 2,200 other participants from all over New Jersey, coming away with four winning placements. In Level 6 Advanced Placement, Mrs. Francica's winners were: Robert Edmiston - 2nd place; Ariel Atkins - 4th place Honorable Mention; and Sarah Pearlstein-Levy, 9th place Honorable Mention. A student in Mrs. Lavosky's Level 5 Advanced Placement, Jennifer Grayson, won 5th place Honorable Mention.
In addition to the NSE winners, three Montclair High Spanish students were recently published in the Spanish National Honor Society magazine, Albricias! Two of the students, Dennis Clark and Jennifer Grayson, contributed essays; the third, Caroline Hiteshew, contributed poetry. All three students received cash awards and complementary copies of the magazine.
Felicidades a todos los ganadores!
