READ YOUR WAY
June 2012
Dear Parents/Guardians of Incoming Sixth Graders,
As you and your child enjoy your summer, we strongly encourage you to pick up a good book. Actually, at Glenfield, we require your child to pick up a minimum of four books this summer as part of our Read Your Way (RYW) reading incentive program.
Each incoming Glenfield sixth grader is required to read a minimum of four books, and to complete a RYW book report form for each book read. There are five standard book forms to accommodate your child’s reading selections: Fiction, Nonfiction, Historical Fiction, Autobiography/Biography, and Short Story collections.
RYW book report forms are available below and at glenfieldpta.org. We strongly recommend that students keep copies of these templates on their computer desktops for future use. Many students also create folders to store their completed RYW forms, in case their printed forms get lost along the way (yes, this happens).
Completed RYW forms should be mailed to Glenfield by the end of August:
Glenfield Middle School
25 Maple Avenue
Montclair, NJ 07042
Attention: Language Arts Department
Students may turn in a maximum of ten RYW forms prior to September. Once school begins, students follow the RYW schedule set forth by their Language Arts teacher. Please review this packet with your child. We look forward to working with you and your child in the very near future. If you have any questions regarding the RYW program, please contact us. Have a wonderful summer.
