This visualization of the various routes through a portion of the Internet comes from Wikipedia's article on the Internet. Click on the picture, above, to see a larger version, and here for a really huge (8Meg) version. (You need to click on this big one after it shows up on your computer to see it in its full glory.) Each line is drawn between two nodes, representing two IP addresses. The length of the lines indicate the delay between those two nodes. This graph represents less than 30% of the networks mapped in early 2005. Lines are color-coded as follows:
Dark blue: net, ca, us
Green: com, org
Red: mil, gov, edu
Yellow: jp, cn, tw, au, de
Magenta: uk, it, pl, fr
Blue-green: br, kr, nl
White: unknown |
