TECHNOLOGY COURSES

KICK START CREATIVITY (Semester 6th grade)

Every Mac comes with iLife, a suite of software that lets you do amazing things with photos, movies, music, and more. iWork makes productivity more fun.  Keynote lets you transform reports and essays into dynamic animated presentations featuring photos, movies, even music. iPod a whole new way to create. The large Multi-Touch iPod screen lets you use your fingertips – and your imagination – to do just about anything.

TECHNOLOGY ESSENTIALS (Semester 6th grade)
Students in this course will get a strong foundation in using technology effectively.  Researching, writing and presentation skills will be developed using many sites and applications.

 CREATE AND COLLABORATE (Semester 7th grade)

Students in this course will learn skills that will help them create, collaborate and communicate in our digital world.  Content rich multimedia design and web publishing skills will be developed.

 APP FOR THAT (Semester 7th grade)

Students work on mobile devices, apps enable learning both inside and outside the classroom. With thousands of apps on the App Store, you’re sure to find the perfect one. From math game to vocabulary flash cards to anatomy visualize, there’s an app for every subject and every level of instruction – from preschool to higher education.

 RESEARCH AND MEDIA LITERACY (Semester 8th grade)

Working along with the house subject teachers students will learn how to research. Students will learn how to create multimedia projects with a variety of applications.  Students will become familiar with APA works cited and find the best resources to get the job done.

 DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP (Semester 8th grade)

Technology skills will be broadened and strengthened as students learn digital citizenship skills.  Communication and digital authoring skills will be addressed as well as web 2.0 tools.

 COOL TOOLS (9th Period)

Technology changes every day and to keep up with the ever changing gadgets and programs cool tools enables you access to these new programs and websites.  Learn the newest technology that the world has to offer in an educational interactive way.

 BOOK AND BLOGS (9thPeriod )

Blogging has become the most popular way to share and learn about new current events and social media in the world today.  Whether it’s blogging about the last book your wrote to sharing ideas on what you think is going on in our society books and blogs will have you sharing your opinion as well as researched facts on interesting topics that affect middle school students.

DOCUMENTARIES (9th Period)

Using video cameras and digital cameras Glenfield students will create documentary using I Movie in topics that are important to them.  A will be created, edited and published on topics that interest the general public and Glenfield Students. Using the latest editing techniques field research and first person accounts will be used and created.
