Hillside is a continuation of Nishuane's Gifted and Talented theme. This coordinated magnet program presumes that all children have special gifts and talents, which the school has a responsibility to identify and nurture. Through "Aesthetics" courses, students discover and develop new interests and knowledge. These require no special talent, just a willingness to learn and sample new experiences and challenges. "Creative I" (CI) modules support students' interests and talents, allowing them to pursue ideas in greater depth and providing outlets for them to excel. Students are selected to participate in CIs based on recommendations and assessments. Both Aesthetics and CIs are offered in a wide range of disciplines, including foreign language, philosophy and logic, leadership, computers, and all the visual and performing arts.
