The New Jersey Chapter of the American Anorexia/Bulimia Association now has a support group in Essex County at Mountainside Hospital in Montclair, New Jersey. The eating disorder support groups will be held on the second Sunday morning of the month from 10:00 to 11:30 AM, in the Main Building of the Hospital. The new AABA site offers concurrent support groups for individuals seeking help with their eating disorders and for their family members and friends. The groups will be lead by licensed mental health practitioners and registered dietitians with an expertise in treating eating disorders, as well as by recovered leaders. The Center for the Treatment of Eating Disorders provides treatment, prevention and education, diagnostic services, nutrition assessment, counseling services and support services for people, and their families, with eating disorders. The center also has a school prevention program which offers information for students, parents and school personnel and a multi-modal adolescent support group.

The Eating Disorders Program at Atlantic Health (EDPAH) provides comprehensive treatment and assessment services for adolescents suffering from eating disorders and for their families.

The Renfrew Center provides comprehensive treatment programs for women aged 14+ with eating disorders and serious body image problems. Outpatient services are available for males. Residential treatment centers are located in Philadelphia, PA and Coconut Creek, FL.and outpatient services are provided in Ridgewood, NJ, New York City and5 other sites throughout theeast coast. Outpatient services include day treatmentprograms,intensive outpatient programs, groups, nutritional counseling, psychiatric consultation, individual therapy, family therapy, and an extended care program.

Payment Info: The Renfrew Center has contracts with most of the major insurancecarriers and routinely petitions out-of-network care to extend benefits to their members when needed.

This practice offers assessment and treatment for the full range of eating disorders - anorexia, bulimia, and compulsive overeating and body image concerns. The initial consultation can include individual and family interviews. The INNER IMAGE PROGRAM offers adolescent and adult groups for the recovery of eating and body image problems. The INNER IMAGE group programs involve 3 group components: supportive therapy groups, nutritional counseling by a registered dietitian, and body image groups that incorporate movement and art therapy as a healing tool. Treatment often includes referral to and collaboration with physicians and psychiatrists who specialize in eating disorders.
