Bullock Students Shop at Pop-Up Farmers Market

Chartwells, the District’s cafeteria vendor, brought a Pop-Up Farmers Market to Charles H. Bullock School on Wednesday, Oct. 19. Students received “Bullock Bucks” and went shopping at the market. A delicious variety of locally grown, seasonal produce was available, including plums, apples, string beans, zucchini and yellow squash. Parent volunteers were on hand to assist the students and answer questions.
“This was a wonderful opportunity for our students to learn about locally sourced food right here in New Jersey,” said Bullock Principal Nami Kuwabara. “In addition to the students having the opportunity to ‘purchase’ fruits and vegetables at the Pop-Up Market, our kitchen staff incorporated the produce in the hot lunches they cooked that day.”
