Born and raised in Montclair, Joe Kavesh has served the community in many volunteer capacities, including the Civil Rights Commission (Chairman); the Montclair Public Library (Trustee); and the Adult School of Montclair (Trustee).
Kavesh is a partner at a New York City law firm specializing in insurance defense and insurance coverage litigation. He graduated from Brown University with an A.B. in Political Science; and from Seton Hall University School of Law.
Joe and his wife Michele are the parents of three sons, including a sophomore at Montclair High School and a seventh grader at Renaissance Middle School.
Joe’s oldest sibling, Richard Kavesh (MHS ’69), is a public school teacher in the Bronx. Joe’s father, Dr. Robert Kavesh (“Dr. Bob”), taught at New York University’s Stern School of Business for more than five decades.“I am deeply honored and humbled to serve on the Board of Education,” said Kavesh. “Montclair is a diverse and vibrant community, and people are passionate about education.
