One-Shot Basketball

Dear Families,

I have been running One Shot Basketball Camp for the past 7 years. For those of you whose children have attended in previous years, welcome back! For those of you joining us for the first time, I would like to take this opportunity to introduce myself and thank you for choosing to attend Montclair One Shot Basketball Camp.  I have been involved with basketball for over 20 years.  In that time, I have played at every possible level including professionally in Europe, as well as teaching the game to kids in several different countries.

I have also worked for the Montclair Board of Education for over 10 years between professional European basketball contracts. I have worked in a variety of classroom settings which has given me the ability to successfully work with children of all ages from all different backgrounds.

I have always had a love for sports; when I was younger growing up in Montclair I played baseball, soccer, football and basketball.  As I got older I realized my passion was for basketball and that was the path I wanted to follow.  In high school, I was named All County in my junior and senior years, and I was All State in my senior year.  When I finished my high school career I left the all-time leading scorer with more than 1300 points.  I was then offered several division one scholarships but ended up going the JUCO route where I was awarded All American Honors my freshman and sophomore year.  I then went on to play professionally in the IBL and Europe.

In order for your child/children to get the best out of this experience, please remember to bring the following items: appropriate footwear (lace up sneakers); one pair of shorts; a packed lunch, snack and plenty of water to keep them hydrated.

I look forward to meeting you and your child(ren).

Alto Virgil
