Summer Art Studio at Glenfield
Welcome student artists and families! I am excited that you will be joining us for Summer Studio@ Glenfield’s studio art program. You must love art & well, we do too!
Teaching at Glenfield for 11 years, I’ve come to learn that one of my most favorite moments is when my art students are completely engaged in projects they love and exchanging ideas with other students in class sharing their passion for art. That artistic groove is what inspired me to open up my classroom for the summer and continue that vibe.
Summer Studio @ Glenfield was designed to provide a fun, creative, and inspiring atmosphere where students can share their love of art with other aspiring artists. No matter what level you enter at; a beginning artist or advanced, Summer Studio @ Glenfield only requires you to LOVE making art to be successful!
Our day will start at 9am with a short art history jam and discussion along with a warm-up drawing activity to get our creative juices going. At 10am, students will break down into two studios. Middle School students will work on developing drawing and painting skills into their own unique pieces while High School will be able to choose their own medium and produce artwork in an open studio setting with guidance from instructors as well as guided critiques with fellow students. We will break for lunch and outdoor time where students can participate in a group activity or spend their free time sketching. In the afternoon, students return to studios for another two hours and we end the day at 2:45pm. Every Friday, we will be taking a trip into New York City to visit a museum. The trips and supplies are all included as well as a sketchbook to use for camp. You only need to provide a bagged lunch and snack!
I look forward to meeting you and seeing what we create together! What better way to spend a week of your summer than spending time with others who HEART ART like you do?
