As you may be aware, due to heightened security concerns, the district has decided to cancel daytime school tours. This may not be the decision you wanted, but student and staff safety is our top priority. Evening tours and virtual tours are taking place according to the schedule posted on the district website. Principals and teachers and staff from the Department of Equity, Curriculum, and Instruction will be present during evening tours, and you are welcome to bring your children. While this most likely impacts your plans and expectations, please know that this decision was made after consultation with all administrators and law enforcement. Whether you have children already in the public schools or have children entering for the first time, we want you to know that we understand your disappointment with this inconvenience. Deciding on preferences among seven elementary schools and three middle schools may seem daunting. We, too, are struggling with this new process and appreciate your understanding and cooperation as we find ways to deal with these troubling times.
In addition to information on our website, we understand that the PTA may be planning a school fair, we are working with realtors to provide information for prospective home owners, and we will notify you as details become available. The district provides a rich variety of learning environments at all of its schools, and we are looking forward to educating your children.
