Spring Musicals at Edgemont
Wednesday, June 13, 2018
As part of Edgemont PTA's Spring After School Enrichment program, students showed off their acting and singing talents in two classic fantasy musicals.
Students in grades 2 through 5 dazzled audiences with their rendition of Willy Wonka Jr. Based on the book Charlie and the Chocolate Factory by Roald Dahl and adapted for the stage by Leslie Bricusse and Timothy McDonald, Willy Wonka, Jr. tells the story of Charlie, a poor boy whose dream of visiting Willy Wonka's chocolate factory finally comes true. He and his grandpa, along with a group of wacky characters embark on a wild tour of the chocolate factory--with a great surprise at the end!
Students in Kindergarten and 1st grade got the acting and singing bug as they put on an adorable performance on Toot Sweets based on the classic story Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Ian Fleming. This musical adventure tells the story of inventor Caracatus Potts who transforms a broken down old car into a flying machine much to the delight of his children and the envy of the tantrum-prone Vulgarian king. The Potts family, with candy factory heiress Truly Scrumptious, head to the Vulgarian kingdom to save the day!
