The Edgemont SATp has been working closely with the Edgemont staff this year to help plan monthly, cross curricular, cross grade level, Montessori based activities for students.
On March 15 Edgemont had its first “Montessori Moments” activity with Kindergarten and 3rd graders. Kindergarten and 3rd graders read together as “Book Buddies” and wrote up their reviews for the book.
On April 5, Edgemont held its second “Montessori Moments” activity with 1st grade and 4th grade students. Students learned about the Montclair Bike Bus from a very special guest speaker, Andrew Hawkins (also known as Roberta and Ezekiel’s dad!). After discussing Montclair Bike Bus, bike safety and a thoughtful Q&A session, students worked together to create and illustrate their own bike routes throughout our community.
On May 24, the school held its third and final “Montessori Moments” activity with 2nd grade and 5th grade students. The students talked about nature found around Edgemont, and then worked together to create bird feeders that they plan to hang in the backyard at Edgemont!
