Walk, Bike & Roll to School

Walk, Bike & Roll to School
Posted on 10/16/2024

Last week Montclair students and their families came to school on foot, bicycles and scooters as part of National Walk, Bike & Roll to School Day which annually highlights the importance of safe, active travel.

Eight schools recently received Silver Award status from New Jersey Safe Routes to School (SRTS): Bradford, Charles H. Bullock, Edgemont, Glenfield, Hillside, Nishuane, Northeast and Watchung. All the schools received silver status, mostly due to having Bike Bus events on Friday mornings organized with/by Montclair Bike Bus. Some schools also participated in regular Walk and/or Bike to School Days, and some schools had assemblies focused on walking and/or biking safety. All of those events count toward achieving a SRTS award.

Below is a look at just some of the participants at our schools around the district on National Walk, Bike and Roll to School Day and take a moment to read more about the benefits of walking, biking or rolling to school!
