Two Watchung School students were among the Top 15 winners in the 2024 “My Essex County” 4th Grade Poster Contest. Avni Bakarania and Raymond Koueiter and their artwork are featured in the 2024-25 Essex County 15-month calendar. Elementary school students throughout Essex County are eligible to participate in the annual contest designed to inspire 4th grade students to learn about the history, the people, and the beauty of Essex County.
Essex County Clerk, Christopher J. Durkin said, “We are thrilled to present this year’s calendar featuring the outstanding posters created by the young artists of Essex County. Their creativity and vision are truly inspiring. I invite everyone to explore and enjoy the remarkable artwork that showcases the unique perspectives and talents of our youth.”
Each student’s artwork was displayed at the ceremony and each of the Top 15 winners received a medal with their name engraved on the back, a framed certificate, a t-shirt, goody bag, and an opportunity to talk about their poster and what inspired them to create their unique artwork. Several Montclair students, all from Watchung, received Honorable Mentions: Elizabeth Elkins, Layla Lloyd, Noah Bookhart, Owen Davies and Priya Bakarania.
