On Friday, June 6, 105 Charles H. Bullock students ran with New Jersey law enforcement officers in the 42nd Annual Law Enforcement Torch Run, to raise awareness of and support for Special Olympics New Jersey.
“We have participated in this event for several years, and each year more and more students sign up to run with the officers,” said Bullock Principal Nami Kuwabara. “This year we had the most students running ever, and more important, they raised nearly $2,000 in donations to support Special Olympics New Jersey.”
For the Law Enforcement Torch Run, more than 3,000 officers take to the streets of their local communities throughout New Jersey, running in 26 separate legs. The Bullock students and several staff members joined the law enforcement officers at the corner of Gates and Bloomfield avenues, turning right on Elm Street, and left on Washington Street, finishing in front of Bullock. The rest of the school’s students and staff lined the Washington Street block and cheered.
