Student Equity Advocate

Description of Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing guidance and advocacy for students and/or parents/guardians to address individual or systematic systems that underserve Black students and other traditionally marginalized groups. Responsibilities include but are not limited to collecting lived experience data, researching and addressing issues of equity, linking students and their families to school and community resources, monitoring attendance and discipline, communicating with administration, counselors, students, and families.

What I do for you:
Present concerns to district officials to address questions, concerns and/or misinformation; make recommendations to district staff, assist professional development; investigate student and parent concerns and; evaluate student progress; partner with school and community organizations to achieve better student outcomes.

What you can do to help me:
Communicate and document concerns of student mistreatment, discrimination against students, racist behavior toward students, and patterns of under-representation or over-representation for student opportunities directly to me.

Problems/Questions to direct to me:
Students experiencing discrimination, victims of racist behavior, mistreatment and/or being blocked from opportunities in the Montclair Public School District.
