Posted on 04/05/2019
Buzz Aldrin Middle School (BAMS) once again welcomed more than 30 presenters and an additional 15+ people who assisted with the 5th annual STEAM Career Day on Fri., March 15.

The day consisted of four, one-hour presentations that focused on the hard and soft skills that are necessary for success in a wide of array of professions. Included in the diaspora were lawyers, accountants/financial advisers, engineers, politicians, activists, research and design specialists, innovators and creators, writers, medical professionals, scientists, actors, entrepreneurs, educators, social media specialists, computer scientists, psychologist, and advertising consultants.  The myriad of professionals offered students an opportunity to experience some of the intimate details of the necessary job skills while engaging in challenging activities.

Each year, BAMS seeks the participation from parents and local entities to participate in the STEAM Career Day to provide students the opportunity to experience the intricacies necessary for the job market in an effort to better focus their desire for learning while validating their education. BAMS assists the professionals with their presentations to help streamline their information in a manner that is middle school appropriate so the students can maximize their learning and the application of their interests and knowledge.  STEAM Career Day usually takes place in the early spring of each year but the search and recruitment for presenters and logistical assistance begins months earlier.

“We are proud of our team of presenters who take time away from work and expend valuable time and effort to participate in this very special occasion,” said STEM Coordinator Daniel Taylor. “Their expertise and energy are invaluable to the education of our students and their efforts definitely plant the seeds of curiosity and wonder.  We offer our thanks and gratitude to these individuals.”
