Montclair Township’s Department of Health and Human Services recently provided Montclair Public Schools with Narcan cabinets for each building. These cabinets are mounted next to the AED machines and are accessible to all staff trained in Narcan administration. The Department of Health and Human Services utilized funds from the National Opioid Settlements to purchase the Narcan boxes. These funds are designated specifically for opioid prevention, treatment, and recovery strategies and cannot be used for other purposes. Amy S. Monaco, Director/Health Officer and Keith Costello, Assistant Health Officer, played key roles in administering and overseeing these funds for the Township. “Having the immediate accessibility to this life-saving treatment is just another crucial tool for ensuring student and staff safety,” said Tina La Gala, District Supervisor of Nursing Services (pictured below). “We are grateful to the Department of Health for their generosity and support.”
