On Monday, Sept 21, Edgemont participated in International Day of Peace in a unique way since the school community couldn’t celebrate with its annual assembly and peace parade. “This year we were thinking of ways to come together virtually,” said Edgemont school psychologist Sade Wiley. This year’s theme was "Shaping Peace Together" by spreading love, kindness, and hope in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic and discrimination.

To commemorate the theme, a Peace Day Project called the “Edgemont Peace Puzzle” came to fruition. “Our peace puzzle is formed by various puzzle shapes created by our students and staff to demonstrate that we are each an essential piece of the Edgemont community and each of us has strengths and skills to share,” said Wiley. Each of the students that chose to participate created a puzzle piece that either was a color or description that represented them best.” In addition, virtual classrooms held a minute of silence resulting in a “peace wave.”
