Glenfield Middle School concluded its celebration of Black History Month last week with a unique and unforgettable culminating event, Career Day. The school welcomed an incredible group of professionals from the community who graciously shared their journeys, challenges, and triumphs with students. From the arts to medicine, business to law, public safety to law enforcement, and everything in between, guest speakers painted a vivid picture of the many paths that lie ahead for all students.
“Our students were engaged, inquisitive, and eager to soak in the wealth of knowledge and advice offered,” said Interim Principal Marcos Vargas. “It was truly inspiring to witness their excitement as they connected with role models who reflect their aspirations and potential. Moments like these remind us why representation matters—our students need to see, hear, and learn from those of every race and creed who have paved the way before them.”
Career Day was coordinated by Marlaina Powell and Betty Shvetz and the Glenfield PTA, Yvette Frazier and the Glenfield SATp, Glenfield’s Culturally Responsive Committee, Assistant Principal Vincent Pelli, and the faculty and staff.
