Health Services at Community Schools Update
Posted on 03/27/2023
Clinics opened at Hillside and Glenfield schools in a partnership between Montclair Public Schools and Hackensack Meridian Mountainside Medical Center have provided Montclair residents with a range of free services since opening in February.

Mountainside staff at the Community Schools clinics have assisted several families in applying for NJ Family Care insurance; referred patients to the Emergency Rooms at Mountainside and Clara Maas for treatment; referred participants to Zufall and Hackensack Meridian School of Medicine’s Human Dimension program; provided “Healthy Meals in a Box,” donated by Toni’s Kitchen; and facilitated a Spanish-Language Focus Group to improve services to native Spanish speakers in Essex County.

Through the Community Schools partnership, all Montclair residents can receive health screenings; talk to nurses, doctors and dentists; and receive referrals for medical care at no charge after school hours on the first and second Wednesday of each month at Hillside, which is located at 54 Orange Road, and on the third and fourth Wednesday of each month at Glenfield, which is located at 25 Maple Ave, on the third and fourth Wednesday of each month.

Clinical services are provided on the first and third Wednesday of each month, including screenings for blood pressure, diabetes, cholesterol, and other conditions and medical and dental assessments. Non-clinical services are provided on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month, including referrals for medication and food pantries, case management assistance in navigating the healthcare system, and lectures on chronic conditions and nutrition in English and Spanish.

See the April calendar in English and Spanish for this month’s discussion topics and more.
