The Montclair High School Model United Nations Team competed at the 2025 Philadelphia Model United Nations Conference (PhilMUN) Feb. 20-23. The regional focus of PhilMUN was Eastern Europe and the many distinctive and critical issues surrounding democracy that stem from its totalitarian past. The theme was examining the growing threat of democratic backsliding within Eastern Europe, as well as its effects on the political, social, and economic systems of involved nations.
The MHS team had a successful weekend at the Conference debating against high school students from all over the region, coming home with six individual awards. “The team did a remarkable job and carried themselves with great professionalism. We are very proud of their accomplishments,” said advisors Bill Wingren and Tom Manos.
