New and Familiar Faces at MPS

The Montclair Public Schools welcomes some familiar faces and some returning ones in new roles for the 2021-22 school year. Here’s a list to help you get acquainted! 

Who’s New in Central Office?
Zury Bonsenor, new Central Office receptionist, will be the new voice of and front office contact for the Board of Education. She previously served as the receptionist for the Montclair Child Development Center Inc.-Head Start program.

Dr. Vicky Chang has joined Central Office as Interim Supervisor of World Languages and English as a Second Language (ESL). She spent the past 14 years teaching Mandarin at Nishuane.

Nick Cipriano is the new Business Administrator/Board Secretary. Previously he served as Superintendent of the Wood-Ridge School District. 

Magy Fischer has been with the district since early 2021 as Manager of District Information Systems. She previously held the position District Systems and Data Coordinator for Hackensack Public Schools.

Dr. David Goldblatt brings his background as a Bergen County superintendent during his long standing career and most recently as Interim Superintendent of Schools for South Bergen Jointure Commission of New Jersey is serving as Interim Director of Pupil Services.

Dr. Felice Harrison-Crawford, who has served in the Montclair Public Schools for the past 27 years, most recently as Director of Operations and School Support Services has been named Assistant Superintendent of the department.

Jasmine Malloy is the new District Registrar. She previously served as the Assistant Registrar and Manager for Student Services at Montclair High School.

Dr. Jill McLaughlin, formerly principal of Nishuane for the past eight years, is serving in the newly created position, Director of Elementary Education.

Carla Perez takes on the role of Pupil Services Supervisor. She comes to Montclair having most recently served as a principal in the Butler school district.

Robin Schlager, Operations & School Support Services secretary and assisting the Registrar, served 10 years as Associate Director of MFEE and most recently as Associate Director of Development, Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges.

Who’s New Around the Schools
Frances Aboushi
begins her first full year as Principal of Bradford Elementary School. She began her tenure there in May after serving as Assistant Principal at Glenfield Middle School, and this year she is closing in on two decades in the educational arena.

Mike Chiles, retired Principal from the Montclair Public Schools, returns to the District as the Acting Principal at Northeast.

Brenda Coe, whose role at Charles H. Bullock is Supervisor of Curriculum and Instruction is the Acting Principal at CHB.

Maria Francisco joins Montclair as the new Renaissance Principal having most recently served as Vice Principal at Roberto Clemente Middle School in Paterson.

Nisha Gandhi has been named Assistant Principal of Buzz Aldrin. Gandhi has been a math teacher at Buzz for the past 14 years.

Major Jennings is the new principal of Buzz Aldrin Middle School. For eight years, he served as the Assistant Principal at Buzz and served as Acting Principal of Renaissance at Rand Middle School this past year.

Susan Matteson, based at Montclair High School, is the Director of School Counseling, K-12. Prior to joining MPS she served as Director of Guidance and Counseling for the Roselle Public School District.

Vincent Pelli, longtime Social Studies teacher and House Leader at Glenfield Middle School, takes on the role of Assistant Principal at Glenfield.

Frank Sedita, formerly Montclair’s Supervisor of World Languages & ESL since 2018, is the new Interim Principal of Nishuane.
