Watchung’s student-run School Store had a very successful and profitable year. The store garnered $1,000 from the sale of erasers, pencils and other small items. Students decided they wanted to donate the profits to a community charity. The students selected PAWS (Pound Animal Welfare Society of Montclair) as the recipient of the donation. PAWS representative Carole Michales was presented the check on Wed., June 21 during a segment on the school’s morning TV broadcast, “Wake Up Watchung” from advisor and Spanish teacher Maria Cristina Fuentes and two members of the safety patrol who worked in the store, Avery and Natalie. “We’re thrilled to have been selected,” said Michales. “We are celebrating our 40th year in Montclair. We run on donations and this money will go to great use, directly for the care of our animals.”
