Last Wed., May 9, the Montclair school district participated in “Paint Montclair Day,” a collaborative effort between the Montclair Public Schools, Montclair Township and the Montclair PTA Council in anticipation of national Red Nose Day on May 24. The Red Nose Day campaign is designed to bring people together to raise awareness and help end childhood poverty.

In addition to wearing red and donning red noses, some of the awareness and fundraising activities around the district included:

  • Buzz Aldrin: Pie in the Face of staff for a donation.
  • Charles H. Bullock: Red Nose face painting and donation jar.
  • Glenfield: Students painted portraits of prominent Montclairites to be auctioned off at art show.
  • Hillside: Students worked on components of a future Red Nose art installation for a donation.
  • Nishuane: The school held a “Read In” on the topic and collected donations.
  • Renaissance: Students and staff wore red.
  • Watchung: Students and staff donated money for a piece of red tape to affix Principal Tony Grosso to a wall.
