Students, Cake and History

On Sunday, April 15, Glenfield Middle School students, led by Glenfield social studies teacher Dan Gill, helped the Montclair celebrate its 150th anniversary with a re-enactment of the first township council meeting in Montclair.

Clad in 19th century costumes (including mustaches!) students began the proceedings, recalling when the town separated from Bloomfield and how Montclair became a township on April 15, 1868. Following the “meeting,” students opened the floor for public comment and engaged in a question and answer session.
