PTA Council Hosts Elementary School Fair

PTA Council Hosts Elementary School Fair
Posted on 04/09/2019
Parents sending their kids to an elementary school for the first time have lots of questions and concerns. Our Montclair Public Schools' PTAs had the opportunity to meet these parents and provide valuable "parent to parent" information at a friendly, casual meet and greet. It was the first PTA Council sponsored Elementary School Fair which took place on Monday, April 1, hosted by the Geyer YMCA. MFEE, SEPAC and Health and Wellness groups also took part in this event for our new parents.

All parents were welcome, especially pre-school parents, and families new to the area or thinking about moving to Montclair.

Here are some of the questions parents had at the event:

Q: Do the schools provide before- and after-care?
A: Yes, run by the YMCA, before- and after-care are well populated. The kids do homework, play and are provided with a snack.

Q: How do the schools differ from each other?
A: Our Magnet Themes are what make them different. It makes each of our schools an exciting place to be.

The PTA Council is the umbrella group for all 10 of our elementary and middle schools' PTAs. (Montclair High School is organizing a PTA as well.) The group plans on sponsoring the event again next year as well as a Middle School Fair. For more information contact Debbie Villarreal.
