Summer Programs

Academic Summer 2021 Programs

Montclair Public Schools is pleased to announce the following academic programs for Summer 2021 will be IN-PERSON!  We are asking parents to complete a short interest survey form in Genesis for each child enrolled in Montclair Public Schools.  This survey will be used to gauge interest in the programs detailed below and will help us with planning for these programs in advance.  A separate form will be sent for actual registration, including if your child is recommended for targeted support/credit recovery programs. 

K-5 Summer STEP UP (Targeted Support & Improvement Program)
June 28 - July 22 (No School July 5), Mondays - Thursdays,
Session 1: 8:15-9:45, Session 2: 10-11:30 am
This program will be offered to students who are identified with need for targeted support.  Parents will be notified if their child is recommended for this program.  Students will engage in ELA and Math activities that engage students in tasks while reviewing major content standards and skills needed for the upcoming school year.  Students are expected to attend both sessions for ELA and Math for K-5.

K-5 Summer Hike (Academic Program)
June 28 - July 22 (No School July 5), Mondays - Thursdays
Session 1: 8:15-9:45, Session 2: 10-11:30 am
This program is optional. Students will engage in ELA and Math activities that engage students in tasks that extend learning from this past school year. Students are expected to attend both sessions for ELA and Math for K-5.  

MS Summer School (Targeted Support & Improvement Program)
Dates:  June 28 - August 5 (No School July 5), Mondays - Thursdays,
Session 1: 8:15-10:00am, Session 2: 10:15-12pm
This program will be offered to students who are identified with need for targeted support.  Parents will be notified if your child is recommended for this program.  Students will engage in ELA and Math activities that engage students in tasks while reviewing major content standards and skills needed for the upcoming school year.

MS Algebra B Accelerated Enrichment (Academic Enrichment Program)
Dates:  June 28-August 5 (No School July 5), M-TH, 8:15-11:15am
This program will be offered to current 8th grade students who completed Algebra B Accelerated with a low B to high C range.  Parents will be notified if your child is recommended for this program. These students will engage in tasks that review major content standards covered in Algebra B Accelerated.  Students will have the opportunity to place into 9th grade Geometry Honors with an 85% or higher.
 

MHS Summer School (Credit Recovery Program)
June 28-August 5 (No School July 5), Mondays- Thursdays,
Session 1: 8:15 -11:15am, Session 2: 11:45-2:45
Students enrolled in summer school sessions based on identified need for credit recovery. Parents will be notified if your child is recommended for this program.   NJ requires 60 hours minimum for credit to be approved.  Students are required to attend all days scheduled.
Credit recovery courses available for:
ELA, Math, Physical Education, Social Studies, Science (exact courses TBD based on enrollment)

MHS Summer Experience (Enrichment Program)
Dates: June 28 - July 22 (No School July 5) Mondays through Thursdays
Session 1: 8:15-9:15am, Session 2: 9:30-10:30am, Session 3: 10:45-11:45am,
Session 4: 12-1pm
This program is optional.  Families will be sent a list of enrichment courses that students can sign up for.  These courses include a variety of subject areas that engage students in educational tasks and activities.  Subjects include: STEM, AP prep, Humanities, Arts, Physical Education, World Language etc.
