The Montclair High School Civics and Government Institute sophomores completed their first Public Demonstration of Learning, the Social Reform Panel, on Wed., February 5. The Civics and Government Institute’s annual Social Movements and Reform Panel is a culminating activity for the first unit of study in the CGI US History and Literature curriculum.

The winning Hall of Fame inductees.

Each student chooses an American reformer throughout history and is required to become that person for an evening. They research the person, write a speech as their reformer, dress like them, create a protest sign, and come to the evening event ready to represent in character. The evening is set up as the Social Reformers Hall of Fame, where the students compete and are selected by the audience for induction into the Hall of Fame. CGI faculty, parents, upperclassmen, and other community members attend and judge this annual event.
