Despite the pandemic, Montclair students are not only making the best out of the situation but are thriving academically, athletically and artistically. Here are just two examples of our shining stars and their accomplishments.

Montclair High School Girls Soccer player Claire Manning was named NJ.com 2020 Player of the Year Player of the Year. Senior and Georgetown commit Manning finished the season with 20 goals and seven assists during the Mounties undefeated championship season.

While there was no Essex County final held this year due to COVID-19, the team culminated a perfect record with a 3-0 win over Livingston to take home its ninth straight sectional title.

Manning scored in all three of the Mounties playoff games, closing out her career with a goal and an assist in the final game that secured the NJSIAA North East G, Group 4 championship.

“Having a great player is one thing; having a great player who is also an outstanding leader is a coach’s dream,” said Montclair coach Ashley Hammond. “She’s a special talent.”
