Montclair Public Schools has partnered with
Ginkgo Bioworks Inc. (“Ginkgo”), the organism company, to provide pooled SARS-CoV-2 (COVID-19) testing. This week, second grade students in the elementary schools will be the first to engage in this testing.
Montclair Public Schools will engage pooled testing as one of many strategies which form a robust and multifaceted coronavirus response. These strategies include health attestations, deep cleaning, social distancing, contact tracing, handwashing, ventilation and other facility enhancements. Together, these layered prevention strategies accord with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention’s K-12 School
Operational Strategy, and recommendations from public health officials.
“I am pleased that the District can provide another measure to help keep our schools open and support the safety of our students and teachers,” said Superintendent Jonathan Ponds.
