Montclair High School's baseball team is in the State Sectional Championship game for the first time since 1964. This year's team is the #1 seed in the sectional tournament and will play home on Friday, June 11, 4 pm vs. the winner of the Clifton High School/Livingston High School game at Woodman Field. The baseball team's previous state sectional tournament championships came in 1959, 1961, 1963, 1964. The NJSIAA started state sectional tournaments in 1959. Prior to that, the NJSIAA executive committee used to award the state sectional champion based off the regular season. It is believed that Montclair was awarded many state sectional titles prior to 1959. All of those teams were coached by the late great, Clary Anderson. Anderson's teams also won four Greater Newark Tournament Championships.  Recently, Montclair won the Greater Newark Tournament (GNT) in 2012, and 2019. The baseball team's GNT championship in 2012 was the team's first since 1963.
