Charles H. Bullock’s Annual Eco-Fair has been a showcase of the school’s Environmental Science magnet theme, and that tradition continued on Saturday, May 14.
More than 180 students and their families participated in environmentally-friendly activities, beautified Bullock’s garden, and brought donations of toys and books for Montclair Mutual Aid.
Activities included book and plant swaps, yoga, henna tattooing, story time, bike smoothies, and a repair shop for small electronics and appliances. In addition, student’s grade-level, special environmental projects were on display and entered in an eco-fair event raffle drawing. Decorated birdhouses and clay pots were raffled off to 30+ lucky winners. Attendees were treated to s’mores cooked up in student-engineered solar ovens.
“The Eco-Fair is a special way for the Bullock community to recognize and celebrate together our mission of environmental stewardship,” said Bullock Principal Nami Kuwabara. “A big thank you goes to Ms. Weitzman, Bullock Curriculum Support Teacher, and the PTA Eco-Fair Co-Chairs, Marco de Mel Pedersen and Amy Richardson, for their time and energy to make the Eco-Fair a successful event.”
