On Friday, December 16, the district and the Montclair NAACP Youth Council and Education Committee in partnership with Montclair Moms of Color, Montclair Public Library, PTAC, SATp, Brother to Brother, Sister to Sister, See Do Be, Inc. Urban Kween and ICAP held a literacy awareness event, "Children’s Kwanzaa Traditions" at Nishuane School. The event featured an art center, literacy station and mural making, followed by performances including an Anansi story, African dancers, African drummers and Grammy-nominated music and social justice artist, educator and content creator seen on TEDx, MTV, and more, Fyütch. The evening concluded with a candle ceremony.
