Charles H. Bullock School’s fifth graders recently delivered 75 bags of non-perishable groceries to Toni’s Kitchen as part of their Fifth Grade Community Outreach efforts. Student teacher Kelly Palermo organized the project.
The students collected the groceries throughout the month of October, and they carried all 75 bags from Bullock up the Union Street hill to make the delivery to Toni’s Kitchen.
“A big thank you goes to all of the families who donated,” said Bullock Principal Nami Kuwabara. “And we greatly appreciate Ms. Palermo for heading up this worthwhile project.”
Stacey Cooper, Director of Operations for Toni’s Kitchen, called the visit “amazing.”
“The students collected a huge assortment of the most-needed food items,” Cooper said. “I gave them a tour of our kitchen, dining room and food storage site. They were smart and thoughtful and asked many questions. I heard many kids insisting that when they are old enough, they will be volunteering in the kitchen. Our future definitely feels bright!”
