Charles H. Bullock School hosted two Restorative Justice (RJ) Nights for Families on November 28 and 30, providing parents and caregivers a primer on what RJ is all about. They were given the opportunity to “sit circle” just as their children do every other week.

“Mr. Ridwan Khan, Bullock’s Teacher on Special Assignment, spearheaded the program, and his dedication to growing our RJ practices is unwavering,” said Bullock Principal Nami Kuwabara.

“We received wonderful feedback from families,” saidrestorative justice circle Kuwabara. “They especially appreciated actually ‘sitting circle,’ which gave them a clearer understanding of their children’s RJ experiences.”

“As RJ continues to grow and expand in the Montclair Public Schools, we know we need the support of our entire community,” said Khan. “We appreciate those parents and caregivers who participated in our first Family Nights, and we look forward to holding more events like these.”

RJ Teachers on Special Assignment from other Montclair schools attended and supported the Bullock Families Nights. In addition, the CHB PTA provided raffle prizes and childcare, and an NJEA PRIDE grant provided refreshments.
