On Friday, Sept. 9, Bradford elementary school fifth graders participated in a National Anthem event at the Yogi Berra Museum & Learning Center on the campus of Montclair State University to learn about the history of the national anthem, join in a sing-a-long with thousands of other students nationwide, and to mark the 15th anniversary of 9/11.
The event was part of the fourth annual National Anthem Movement, created by the American Public Education Foundation (APEF). The National Anthem Movement began three years ago and asks students in schools across the country to unite and sing together simultaneously.
“Getting students involved in learning the words and meaning of our nation’s anthem, as well as uniting as a country to sing is powerful,” says Mia Toschi, Founder of the National Anthem Movement and APEF National Director. “When students come together to celebrate citizenship, everyone wins.
