MHS Successful at Certamen CompetitionMontclair High School students came away victorious at the annual Certamen competition hosted by Princeton University.

Latin II students came in first place (Zoe Hellman, Ava Wigdor, Jake Schapiro, David Goldsmith, Tatiyana Daniel); Latin III students came in third place (Nora Giordano, Lily Feinberg, Iso Wastler, Josh Webb, Jacqui Brandt); and Latin IV students came in second place (Isabella Epstein, Ryan Maiman, Samantha Rego, Colby Stoddard, Taylor Schumann).

The first place winners go on to compete at the Classical League state convention.

“These students worked very hard, not only in school, but also on their own as the competition included 60 questions on grammar, mythology, history, and culture,” said advisor and Latin teacher JoAnne Manse. “I could not be more proud of them! They are the best!”
