Buzz Aldrin Middle School in Montclair announced today that it has adopted the Anti-Defamation League’s “No Place for Hate,” anti-bias, anti-bullying program for the 2022-2023 school year.

The nationally successful initiative will help Buzz Aldrin students and staff to create a school-run No Place for Hate Committee. The committee will organize three major anti-bias events during the course of the year, each one entailing active participation from all Buzz Aldrin students.

After successfully completing the program next spring, the school will be recognized as a national “No Place for Hate School” by the ADL.

“We’re thrilled to bring ADL’s experience in building dynamic, inclusive school cultures to Buzz Aldrin,” said Principal Major Jennings. “As we learned about the program, we were convinced that our students and staff would be tremendously excited to build a schoolwide movement of respect and empathy with ADL’s help.”

Following an initial assessment to customize the program to fit the school’s circumstances and needs, and to build on its strengths, ADL will provide Buzz Aldrin’s No Place For Hate Committee with materials and strategies proven to engage students around transforming the learning climate.
