For the past 25 years, The Judy and Josh Weston Awards for Excellence in Teaching have recognized teaching excellence in the Montclair Public Schools, with a cash award in the amount of $2,000. Sixteen teachers were selected last year to receive this prestigious award. In this 25th year, Mr. and Mrs. Weston have decided that 2016 will be their final year in giving out these awards. “Their generosity and commitment to these awards will be remembered always by all of us from the Montclair Public Schools,” said facilitator Beth Wilensky.
The administration of The Judy and Josh Weston Award for Excellence in Teaching is exclusively by parents. A selection committee of parent representatives from each of Montclair’s public schools, and Judy Weston, select the award recipients. The selection process is based on the following criteria: creativity, high expectations, energy, and concern for students.
Students, parents and guardians of children currently attending Montclair Public Schools can submit nominations for the Weston Award using this form.
The due date for Weston Award nominations is Wednesday, March 2, 2016. All Weston Award nomination forms must be returned to each school PTA presidents by that time. A Weston Award facilitator will collect the Weston Award nominations from the schools on Thursday, March 3, 2016.
The recipients of the 2016 Weston Award will be announced in April. A reception and awards presentation will be held in their honor on Monday, June 13, 2016.
