On May 4, the Montclair PTA Council (PTAC) held a reception at the Montclair Women’s Club honoring the winners and participants of the Reflections Art Program. For the second year in a row, Montclair’s PTAC participated in the National PTA’s Reflections Arts Program. The program/contest provides opportunities for recognition and access to the arts which boost student confidence and success in the arts and in life.
Each year through the Reflections program, National PTA and PTAs across the country encourage students of all ages to create and submit original works of art in the medium of their choice that reflect on the annual theme. Submissions are reviewed by arts experts, and students are recognized for their artistic technique and ingenuity in bringing the theme to life. Hundreds of thousands of students in pre-K through grade 12 from across the country and in U.S. schools overseas created original works of art as part of the 2022-2023 Reflections program.
Montclair had several winners on the state level in the categories of Dance Choreography, Film Production, Literature, Music Composition, Photography and Visual Arts. Two students were national winners, Isabelle Hayes, a seventh grader at Buzz Aldrin Middle School and Onward Fernandez, a fifth grader at Northeast.
