Second graders at Bradford School held their 7th Annual WaterThon on June 5 in Mountainside Park, partnering with The Project Solution, a donor community founded in 2009. The mission of The Project Solution is to encourage philanthropy and to create quantifiable change in distressed areas of the world.

The second grade students and their families, Principal Naomi Kirkman and second grade teachers Marcie Chanin, Laurie Durber and Kelly Russo have been helping to bring the most basic of human needs, water, to students in other countries. The last few years have focused on schools located in the poorest regions of North Sulawesi, Indonesia. This years' WaterThon outreach will be in the same region and will fund another water catchment and filtration system, this one for the Tambun School.

In conjunction with this fundraiser, the students learn about the water cycle and water scarcity issues around the world. The event itself had all of the second graders walking a small outdoor loop in Mountainside Park while carrying one gallon jugs of water to give the students some small sense of the challenges that other children face around the world in transporting water.
