The Charles H. Bullock staff received wonderful news on September 6, upon their return to start the 2017-2018 school year: Bullock’s “Focus School Status” was determined to no longer be applicable by the New Jersey State Department of Education. A school is identified as a “Focus School” due to wide gaps in student performance among different subgroups of students. At Bullock, those gaps drastically decreased.

To recognize Bullock’s achievement, Montclair’s senior leadership surprised the faculty with a congratulatory salute and celebration.

The staff was pleased to receive the news and have their daily hard work for students and families publicly acknowledged. Principal Nami Kuwabara said, “We are so proud to be recognized for all the amazing and hard work we have been doing for all of our students.” This program was an amazing way to start the 2017-2018 school year.
