The Buzz Aldrin Student Council recently wrote letters to first responders in the community thanking them for their service. Members had the opportunity to deliver them around town and to personally express the community’s gratitude.

Bullock second grader Jayla Pitts recently created an initiative to spread confidence and love to homeless women in Montclair and the surrounding community. Project Beautiful was created out of Jayla’s love and desire to remind/encourage women who have fallen on hard times that "they are beautiful and they are worth it!"

Over the last several weeks, she collected hundreds of fragrance and toiletry items, which were all generously donated as a result of her outreach to family, friends and neighbors. Jayla also received generous monetary donations which she used to personally shop for many of the hygiene and fragrance items that were ultimately provided in the gift bags. It was important to her that she deliver her items right in time for Valentine's Day so that its recipients know/feel that they are loved!

Project Beautiful benefited the women of the Real House/BRAVE (Montclair), Cornerstone of the Salvation Army (Montclair), Circle of Life Shelter (Newark) and Covenant House (Newark). In total, Project Beautiful donated 110 gift bags.
